There many organizations, agencies, and businesses that collect and publish data, and sometimes the sheer number of resources can be overwhelming. The Pioneer Valley Data Collaborative wants this website to be your “one-stop-(pie)shop” for any data you may need about the region. We’ve provided a data download page where you can locate data on housing from HUD, employment data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, health data from the Department of Public Health, and much more… all in the same place!

Pi is our handy Pioneer Valley Data mascot who will pop up around the site to give you tips and quick instructions. Keep an eye out for his friendly face for helpful info!

If you’re interested in sharing a data visualization on your website, you can find an embed code by clicking the “share” button  in the bottom corner.

Once you’ve selected the profile you want to print on the Search by Location page, click the “Community Profiles for Print” tab in the upper left corner. Then, click the download button  on the bottom right corner and download the page as a PDF. Next you can print the downloaded PDF.

All of the data sources for our data are kept in the Data Dictionary.

Click the “share” button  in the bottom right corner of the data visualization. A small window will pop up that will provide buttons to post to Twitter, Facebook, or send a link in an email.

The PVDC has prioritized providing data for each municipality within Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties. That being said, we wanted to give our users access to everything we have, which sometimes includes areas outside of those three counties. You may see data from Berkshire County, Worcester County, and even Connecticut in our database.

The Pioneer Valley is comprised of Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire Counties, whereas the Pioneer Valley Region is comprised of only Hampden and Hampshire Counties.

This tool is still a work in progress and data is not always available for every geography. If you’re looking for something specific that you can’t find, please reach out to the PVPC Regional Information and Policy Center at mgoren-watts@pvpc.org.

We do not currently have data available at the census tract or neighborhood level. However, we do plan on adding it soon for the larger cities in the region. In the meantime, a great deal of data on a smaller scale can be found through American Fact Finder.
